Hegewisch Farmers Market
Making fresh, local produce accessible to our community.
Mission
The mission of the Hegewisch Farmers Market (HFM) is to create a welcoming environment in which our residents can have reliable access to freshly grown fruits, vegetables, and proteins.
We seek to develop a community of volunteers, vendors, local businesses, and regular customers; to provide education about available food access resources; and to use the market to showcase Hegewisch to the surrounding communities.
About us
Hegewisch is a quiet community on the South East side of Chicago. We’re easy to access from I94 and far from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
The Hegewisch Business Association recently purchased a property for a Community Center, and one of our first big projects is starting the Hegewisch Farmers Market.
Our market will be centrally located in the Hegewisch community. We’re just a few blocks off the main business district and there’s plenty of parking. We also have city bus service (30), the South Shore Line train, and a Divvy bike station within a few blocks walk.

Accessibility
Our market is located on the lawn just north of the Hegewisch Comminity Center. It’s a flat area of cut grass that is even with the sidewalk and parking.
Restrooms:
The restrooms are inside the Community Center. There is no step to enter either the building or the restrooms. However, as of opening day, our planned renovations to create a larger stall size, add handrails, and appropirate sized sinks is still a work in progress.
